As the Sales Manager - Travel Industry, you play a key role in driving leisure travel business and expanding the hotel’s presence within the luxury travel market. You are responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with travel advisors, agencies, and preferred partner networks to generate bookings and increase revenue. Working closely with the Sales, Marketing, Reservations, and Operations teams, you identify new business opportunities, promote the hotel’s offerings, and deliver exceptional service to our travel partners. Through your industry expertise, relationship-building skills, and results-driven approach, you contribute to positioning Four Seasons Hotel Montreal as a premier destination for luxury travelers worldwide.

Requirements

  • Have an excellent presentation and elocution, in French and English, and interpersonal skills to meet the expectations of a high-end clientele;
  • Ability to work under pressure and manages tasks positively and effectively;
  • Be comfortable in a fast-paced environment;
  • Comprehensive understanding of hotel event planning and banquets;
  • Demonstrate a very good team spirit;
  • Interest and ability to provide outstanding service to our internal, external customers and our suppliers;
  • Maintain a professional appearance and behave in a mature manner and with integrity at all times, including outside the hotel while on business;

  • Strong computer skills, including a working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Publisher and Power Point, Adobe, Oulook, Golden Sales and Catering and Opera PMS,
  • Ability to work long and irregular hours, weekends and evenings;
  • 3 years’ experience in a similar position;
  • College diploma in hotel management, administration or related field;
  • A good command of spoken French and English, an excellent presentation and good interpersonal skills to meet the expectations of a high-end clientele.
  • Good stress resistance and manage it positively and effectively;
  • Be comfortable in a fast-paced environment;
  • In-depth understanding of hotel revenue management;
  • Demonstrate a very good team spirit;
  • Interest and aptitude to provide outstanding service to our internal, external customers and our suppliers;

  • Previous experience of 3 to 4 years in a similar position;
  • College diploma in hotel management, administration or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Actively solicit new business and respond to inquiries in order to confirm profitable events and meet quarterly sales targets.
  • Conduct site visits with potential clients with a focus on the facilities and services offered by the hotel;
  • Finalize the requirements of confirmed bookings while maximizing revenue potential by up-selling and ensuring effective written communication (group summaries, BEO, daily reports) with all departments for the success of the event;
  • Ensure the careful execution of group events by coordinating all the necessary services of the various departments involved which include, among others: arrival and departure of guests, room assembly, audio-visual needs, individual special requests, diagrams, special events and means of transport to the hotel;
  • Ensure open communication and follow up regularly with all departments involved in order to meet the clients requirements;
  • Communicate frequently with the group organizer to meet and exceed customer expectations;
  • Create and place purchase orders for the events involved to facilitate inventory, planning and scheduling of employees for the day of the event;
  • Attend and participate in banquet meetings and the weekly "Resume Reviews” meeting to review all event details and take note of any last-minute changes. Then, inform all relevant departments of any additions or removals to the initial planning of the groups;
  • Coordinate and plan pre-event meetings before the day of arrival of the group's guests;
  • Collect the deposit for payment and validate with the person in charge of the group that they respect the minimums established by the contract for food and drinks;
  • Review all function spaces with the Banquet Manager;
  • Welcome customers on the day of the event and monitor the progress as needed;
  • Schedule a post-event meeting with the group leader to ensure their satisfaction;
  • Perform any other related tasks.
  • Develop and expand the portfolio of travel agencies and the leisure market to stimulate bookings, exceed budget objectives and improve hotel performance.
  • Promote and sell to key programs such as Preferred Partner, Internova, Virtuoso, Chase and American Express to ensure good performance and partner satisfaction.
  • Develop new accounts and manage existing accounts by analyzing customer purchasing and behavior trends in emerging markets to identify growth opportunities.
  • Maintain an organized and professional plan for correspondence and follow-up with key clients and travel agencies.
  • Make prospecting calls, attend trade shows and network for the designated market.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to solicit, sell, and confirm business to meet budget objectives.
  • Solicit travel opportunities and create business development plans independently, identifying new prospects and converting opportunities into sales.
  • Demonstrate excellent written/verbal communication and presentation skills, effectively presenting hotel offerings to travel agencies and clients.
  • Demonstrate strong negotiation skills to foster long-term relationships and achieve mutually beneficial results with travel agencies.
  • Conduct hotel tours and provide detailed information on all hotel/resort services.
  • Host clients on-site during site tours, pre-planning trips, and program operations, as needed.
  • Collaborate closely with Reservations and Operations departments to plan detailed itineraries and meet travel agent preferences.
  • Utilize organizational and time management skills to manage multiple accounts and consistently achieve sales goals.
  • Ensure regular follow-up and communication with clients and travel agencies to maintain relationships and drive bookings.
  • Monitor market trends and emerging market developments, adjusting sales strategies as needed to remain competitive.
  • Stay up-to-date on hotel services, amenities, and offerings and effectively communicate this information to travel agents.
  • Support collaboration with Sales, Marketing, Reservations, and Operations teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Represent the hotel at professional events, trade shows, and networking opportunities.
  • Build a strong network within the leisure travel industry to generate leads and increase hotel visibility and bookings.
