The Sales Floor Department Supervisor leads and enables a team of associates to deliver a strong customer experience. The role includes coaching and training associates, delegating and following up on daily tasks, managing performance, and ensuring adequate department coverage. Supervisors support customer-facing sales and service, as well as non-customer-facing work such as down stocking, inventory management, and area recovery, while maintaining store safety through safety walks, hazard reporting, and reinforcement of safe work and lifting practices. The supervisor works with leaders to identify approaches and behaviors that support sales and service objectives, then communicates best practices to the team to encourage customer-focused behavior and goal attainment. The position may involve supervising associates in other departments as store needs require, and calls for broad product knowledge and the ability to engage associates and customers across departments. The supervisor communicates concerns, issues, praise, and morale to management. The role may occasionally involve opening or closing the store or serving as manager on duty. Regular travel is not required, though occasional travel to meetings, training, or neighboring stores may be needed.
