The Sales Floor Department Supervisor leads and enables a team of associates to deliver a strong customer experience. The role includes coaching and training associates, delegating and following up on daily tasks, managing performance, and ensuring adequate department coverage. Supervisors handle both customer-facing work—such as greeting customers, identifying needs and solutions, and closing sales—and non-customer-facing work, including down stocking, inventory management, and area recovery. They also promote store safety through safety walks, hazard reporting, and guidance on safe equipment use and lifting. The supervisor works with leaders to identify effective approaches for meeting sales and service objectives and communicates best practices to the team. They may supervise associates in other departments as needed, so broad product knowledge and the ability to engage associates and customers across departments are important. The role also involves communicating concerns, issues, praise, and morale to management. Supervisors may occasionally open or close the store or serve as manager-on-duty. Regular travel is not required, though occasional travel to meetings, training, or neighboring stores may be needed.
