The Sales Floor Department Supervisor leads and enables a team of associates to deliver a strong customer experience. The role includes coaching and training associates, delegating and following up on daily tasks, managing performance, and ensuring adequate department coverage. Supervisors support customer-facing activities such as greeting customers, clarifying needs, identifying solutions, and closing sales, as well as non-customer-facing work such as down stocking, inventory management, and area recovery. They also promote store safety by conducting safety walks, reporting hazards, and reinforcing safety and lifting directions. The supervisor works with leaders to identify approaches and behaviors that meet sales and service objectives and communicates best practices to the team. They may supervise associates in other departments as needed, requiring broad product knowledge and the ability to engage associates and customers across departments. They keep management informed of concerns, issues, praise, and morale. They may occasionally open or close the store or serve as manager-on-duty. Regular travel is not required, though occasional travel to meetings, trainings, or neighboring stores/outlets may be needed.
