The Sales Floor Department Supervisor leads and enables a team of associates to deliver a strong customer experience. The role includes coaching and training associates, delegating work, following up on daily tasks, managing performance, and ensuring adequate department coverage. Supervisors handle both customer-facing work—such as greeting customers, clarifying needs, identifying solutions, and closing sales—and non-customer-facing work, including down stocking, inventory management, and area recovery. They also support store safety by conducting safety walks, reporting hazards, and reinforcing safety and lifting guidance. The supervisor provides resources and tools to associates, contributes input to merchandising decisions, and monitors store power-equipment use while coaching safe behaviors and lifting techniques. Working with store leaders, the supervisor identifies approaches that support sales and service objectives and communicates effective practices to the team. They may supervise associates in other departments as needed, requiring broad product knowledge and the ability to engage associates and customers across departments. They also communicate concerns, issues, praise, and morale updates to management. The position may occasionally involve opening or closing the store or serving as manager on duty. Regular travel is not required, though occasional travel to meetings, training, or neighboring stores may be needed. The role is hourly and full-time, generally scheduled for 39 to 40 hours per week, with additional hours possible based on store needs. Morning, afternoon, and evening availability is required any day of the week. Physical duties may involve prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities necessary to perform the job; the associate must be able to lift 25 pounds without assistance and may need to lift more than 25 pounds with or without assistance.
