Sales Executive, Community Banking

Empyrean Solutions LLC
•$100,000 - $250,000•Remote

About The Position

Empyrean Solutions is hiring a Sales Executive for its Community Banking team to win new business among community banks and credit unions with under $3.5 billion in assets. The role is remote, and candidates must live in or near the territory they cover. The company is hiring for three territories: Southeast (FL, GA, SC, NC, VA, WV, MD, DE, NJ), Gulf South (TX, LA, MS, AR), and Central (IL, IN, KY, TN, AL). Texas-based candidates are especially encouraged to apply. The position reports to the Vice President of Sales, Community Banking, and involves about 25–35% travel for conferences, client meetings, and internal meetings. This is a new-business sales role focused on building a pipeline through targeted outreach, supported by marketing, go-to-market programs, webinars, and conferences. Inbound leads are not expected to be steady. Sales cycles average about nine months and may range from four months to two years, so consistent prospecting is important. The role owns the full sales cycle, from discovery and presentations through negotiation and closing. Typical first-year deals are about $50,000 in annual recurring revenue. The Sales Executive sells Empyrean’s core solutions—ALM, liquidity planning, budgeting and forecasting, profitability, and CECL—as well as newer offerings such as Empyrean Reporting: Console and Model IQ. Compensation includes a $100,000–$125,000 base salary and $200,000–$250,000 on-target earnings, split evenly between base and commission; commission is uncapped. Starting salary within the range may vary based on geographic market, relevant skills and experience, education, and other qualifications. Empyrean describes the opportunity as a chance to build a territory and help shape a growing segment, with ramp support, a collaborative team, regular get-togethers, and access to AI tools including Claude. Full-time offers include PTO, mental health days, medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, monthly credits and discounts for attending live events, and additional workplace perks.

  • Ability to research prospects and conduct tailored outreach using peer wins and each bank’s situation to earn engagement.
  • Resilience under pressure, including experience adjusting approach after falling behind sales targets and finding a way to recover.
  • Ability to run a territory independently and involve the manager and wider team when appropriate.
  • Clear, confident presentation skills with senior finance leaders and ability to handle challenging questions calmly.
  • Credibility with bank buyers, or ability to learn quickly how banks purchase software.
  • Must live in or near the territory covered.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 25–35%.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 3 years of sales experience, ideally in B2B or fintech software.
  • Experience with risk and performance management solutions such as ALM, budgeting, profitability, or CECL, on either the software or banking side.

  • Experience with MEDDIC or a similar deal-qualification approach.

Responsibilities

  • Build and own a pipeline of new community bank and credit union prospects, partnering with the demand generation team.
  • Conduct researched, multi-touch outreach tailored to individual banks and engage senior leaders such as CEOs, CFOs, CROs, and treasurers.

  • Own the full sales cycle, including discovery, presentations and demonstrations alongside sales engineers, and negotiation of pricing and contracts.
  • Manage sales opportunities in Salesforce using MEDDIC and bring deals to weekly reviews for coaching.
  • Sell Empyrean’s core solutions, including ALM, liquidity planning, budgeting and forecasting, profitability, and CECL, as well as Empyrean Reporting: Console and Model IQ.
  • Travel approximately 25–35% for conferences, client meetings, and internal meetings.
