About The Position

Our client, a leading global manufacturer of high-performance metal cutting solutions, is seeking a Sales Engineer to support and grow its business throughout the Austin and San Antonio markets. This is a highly technical, customer-facing sales position combining cutting tool applications expertise, CNC machining knowledge, and territory development. The Sales Engineer will work closely with industrial distribution partners while spending significant time directly with end-user customers to identify opportunities, solve machining challenges, and improve manufacturing performance. The ideal candidate will be equally comfortable developing business with a distributor or customer and working on the shop floor to troubleshoot a machining application.

Requirements

  • Experience in cutting tools, CNC machining, metalworking, or a closely related manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of machining processes such as milling, turning, drilling, threading, and/or grooving.
  • Previous experience in a Sales Engineer, Applications Engineer, Technical Sales, CNC Programmer, Manufacturing Engineer, or machining-related role.
  • Ability to read prints and understand machining processes, tooling selection, and cutting parameters.
  • Commercial mindset with the ability to develop relationships and uncover new business opportunities.
  • Comfortable working directly on the shop floor with machinists, engineers, and manufacturing personnel.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to independently manage a territory and prioritize customer opportunities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with industrial distribution is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow an established sales territory covering Austin, San Antonio, and the surrounding market.
  • Sell cutting tools and metalworking solutions through industrial distribution while developing strong relationships with end-user customers.
  • Partner with distributor sales representatives to identify, develop, and close new business opportunities.
  • Provide hands-on technical support for CNC machining and metal cutting applications.
  • Evaluate customer machining processes and recommend tooling, speeds and feeds, cutting parameters, and process improvements.
  • Conduct tooling trials, product demonstrations, and application testing at customer facilities.
  • Help customers improve productivity, tool life, cycle times, part quality, and overall manufacturing costs.
  • Develop relationships with machinists, programmers, manufacturing engineers, plant leadership, purchasing, and distributor partners.
  • Identify opportunities to convert competitive tooling and expand product usage within existing accounts.
  • Coordinate with internal technical, product, and customer support teams to deliver complete manufacturing solutions.
  • Maintain an active territory plan and pipeline of growth opportunities.
