Sales Development Manager - Outbound

NimbleWay•San Francisco, CA

About The Position

Nimble is seeking a hands-on Sales Development Manager to lead and develop a growing outbound team while building and improving its outbound motion. The role combines team management and individual contribution: the manager will coach Outbound AI Engineers and initially carry a reduced individual quota by prospecting, making calls, and generating pipeline. As the team grows, the role is expected to transition toward full-time management focused on coaching, team performance, pipeline, and revenue. The manager will bring outbound sales development expertise and commercial judgment to ensure the team’s AI-powered research, automation, workflows, and go-to-market assets improve outbound performance and generate pipeline and ARR. This is an opportunity to build a new outbound function rather than inherit an established traditional BDR team. The role calls for someone comfortable developing processes in a fast-moving environment and remaining directly involved in outbound execution while leading and developing the team. Nimble describes itself as a company leading the AI web search category. Its products are used by businesses in financial services, retail, market intelligence, and coding to build AI agents with accurate, auditable programmatic web access. The company has raised over $70 million and has hundreds of enterprise customers.

Requirements

  • Experience as a BDR/SDR Manager, Team Lead, or Senior BDR ready to move into management.
  • Proven success in outbound prospecting and generating qualified pipeline.
  • Strong cold-calling, sequencing, messaging, and objection-handling skills.
  • Experience coaching or mentoring other BDRs and improving team performance.
  • Comfort managing pipeline targets, tracking conversion rates, and holding people accountable.
  • Experience working with Enterprise AEs and account-based outbound motions.
  • Familiarity with AI-powered go-to-market tools, automation, and modern prospecting technologies.
  • Comfort working in a fast-moving environment where processes are still being developed.
  • Willingness to remain hands-on and carry a quota while building and leading the team.
  • Interest in both direct outbound execution and coaching others; the posting says the company is not looking for someone who needs an established playbook or wants to manage from a distance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coach a growing team of Outbound AI Engineers.
  • Carry a reduced individual quota, including making calls, prospecting, and creating pipeline.
  • Coach the team on cold calling, email, LinkedIn, cadences, objection handling, and follow-up.
  • Develop and improve outbound strategies, messaging, and account engagement.
  • Run regular pipeline reviews, call reviews, and individual coaching sessions.
  • Work with Enterprise AEs and Sales leadership to improve pipeline generation and deal progression.
  • Keep the team focused on assigned accounts and go-to-market priorities.
  • Evaluate AI-powered research, account briefs, workflows, and go-to-market assets for effectiveness.
  • Identify gaps in outbound execution and work with the team to improve processes and tools.
  • Own team performance, onboarding, ramp, and development as the function grows.

Benefits

  • Opportunity to build and lead a new outbound function.
  • Opportunity to help shape how the function operates as it grows.
  • Work on a technical platform powering real-time AI and enterprise decisions.
  • Opportunity to help define the future of Web Search Agents and live web intelligence.
  • Build alongside a mission-driven team that moves fast, ships often, and takes ownership.
