About The Position
Veterans Canteen Service (VCS) is seeking a Sales Clerk to support customers at its Spokane, Washington location. VCS has served Veterans enrolled in the Department of Veterans Affairs Healthcare system since 1946. The position assists customers with finding products, completing sales transactions, and maintaining merchandise and store presentation. The role includes a one-year trial period. Continued employment after the trial period requires written certification that it advances the public interest. A current, valid REAL ID is required, and the position is subject to a background/security investigation. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must meet Selective Service registration requirements. Candidates should be committed to improving federal government efficiency, the ideals of the American republic, the rule of law, and the United States Constitution. Requirements
- A current, valid REAL ID is required.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Basic math skills for handling transactions.
- Ability to stand and walk constantly and bend frequently.
- Ability to lift or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted.
Nice To Haves
- One year of service-industry experience is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with retail software and point-of-sale systems is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Assist customers in locating products and provide detailed product information.
- Process sales transactions accurately using a cash register.
- Restock merchandise and ensure products are properly labeled for display.
- Maintain a clean and organized store environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
