About The Position
Veterans Canteen Service (VCS), which has served Veterans enrolled in the Department of Veterans Affairs Healthcare system since 1946, is hiring a Sales Clerk in Shreveport, Louisiana. The role supports customers with locating products and provides information to improve their shopping experience. It also handles sales transactions, restocks and labels merchandise, and maintains a clean, organized store.
Requirements
- A current, valid REAL ID is required.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Basic math skills for handling transactions.
- Requires constant standing and walking, and frequent bending.
- Must be able to lift or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted.
- Subject to a background/security investigation.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must register for Selective Service.
- Must serve a one-year trial period; continued employment after the trial period requires written certification that it advances the public interest.
Nice To Haves
- One year of service-industry experience is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with retail software and point-of-sale systems is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Assist customers in locating products and provide detailed product information.
- Process sales transactions accurately using a cash register.
- Restock merchandise and ensure products are properly labeled for display.
- Maintain a clean and organized store environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
