Sales Associate - Part Time
About The Position
The Sales Associate provides excellent customer service and performs duties that support the daily operations of a Goodwill Keystone Area retail store. The role is based at the Chambersburg Store in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, in the Donated Goods Retail department, and reports to the Customer Service Manager. This is a part-time, non-exempt position. The Sales Associate helps customers and donors, processes transactions, and keeps the sales floor organized, attractive, and clean. The role also supports Goodwill Keystone Area’s mission, organizational programs, special events, and additional tasks as needed, while promoting a safe workplace.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old due to the demands of the position, availability requirements, and child labor law compliance.
- Ability to read, write, hear, and speak.
- Ability to perform simple math.
- Ability to operate equipment such as a cash register and credit/debit machines.
- Ability to speak English to interact satisfactorily with donors and customers.
- Must present a neat and positive appearance.
- Must be able to identify clothing sizes and gender-specific differences.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to stand continuously for more than 75% of the shift.
- Ability to push and pull racks requiring up to 20 pounds of force for up to 100 feet, for 10% of the shift.
- Ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions associated with cash register use every few seconds for more than 75% of the shift.
- Ability to repetitively lift textiles on hangers weighing up to 4 pounds at or above head level for 25% of the shift.
Nice To Haves
- Point-of-sale (POS) experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Greet and assist customers and answer the telephone in a positive, professional manner.
- Operate the cash register and process credit and debit transactions accurately and according to organizational policies and procedures.
- Organize, color-coordinate, and rotate merchandise on the sales floor; maintain an attractive, convenient layout, visual merchandising, and store cleanliness.
- Promote and represent Goodwill Keystone Area and its mission positively.
- Participate in organizational programs and special events.
- Support additional tasks and projects as needed.
- Promote workplace safety and perform duties safely while adhering to safety requirements.
- Communicate progress, problems, and concerns to the Customer Service Manager.
