About The Position
PlumpJack Wine & Spirits is a boutique wine shop with two locations in San Francisco. The Sales Associate assists with retail sales of wine, beer, and spirits while providing customers with an honest, approachable, and passionate experience. The role may require coverage at both the Fillmore and Noe Valley locations. Full-time for this position can mean working a minimum of 24 hours per week. The Sales Associate serves customers in person, by phone, and online; provides educational guidance about wine, spirits, and beer; and supports store management with daily operations, merchandising, inventory, deliveries, marketing, loss prevention, and customer service. The position also involves maintaining store cleanliness and visual standards, attending mandatory meetings and events as directed, following company policies, and being prepared to start work as scheduled.
Requirements
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of wine, beer, and spirits, with a desire to learn more.
- Basic computer skills, typing ability, and ability to multitask.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and efficient.
- Diplomatic and calm, with strong verbal communication skills.
- Courteous, friendly, and professional manner.
- Good team player with a customer-service focus.
- Able to work productively with little supervision.
- Trustworthy and reliable.
- Able to work flexible hours, including weekends.
- Previous retail experience is preferred.

Responsibilities
- Greet customers on the sales floor, by phone, or online, and help determine the merchandise they want.
- Provide customers with an educational experience when they purchase wine, spirits, or beer.
- Respond to customer needs and requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Assist store management with daily tasks, including continuously restocking the store.
- Handle deliveries, restock, and maintain warehouse organization.
- Maintain high standards of service and cleanliness in the store.
- Assist store management with retail inventory as directed.
- Support store marketing by attending events, following up with clients, building relationships, and communicating with the marketing team about advertising plans.
- Assist store management in ensuring customers receive exemplary service.
- Help prevent loss by providing customer service and engaging with people in the store.
- Know daily sales goals and drive business to achieve them.
- Foster a fun, competitive, and inviting team environment.
- Maintain visual standards throughout the day.
- Represent and promote PlumpJack Wine & Spirits positively and professionally, including attending requested events and building relationships on and off property.
- Promote and comply with PlumpJack policies and procedures.
- Immediately report suspicious occurrences and hazardous conditions, and avoid injury to self and others.
- Maintain the cleanliness and safety of work areas and equipment.
- Attend mandatory meetings as directed.
- Perform other tasks, including cross-training, as directed.
- Follow the attendance and punctuality policy, report to work as scheduled, and be prepared to start work.
