About The Position

As a Sales Associate on the Trench Safety team, you’ll follow a structured training path designed to prepare you for a future role as an Outside Sales Representative. You’ll work alongside industry experts to gain hands-on experience with technical products and develop the relationship-building skills that support customer success. Training begins at a local branch, where you’ll shadow sales and operational roles to understand the equipment-rental lifecycle. You’ll also attend a digital onboarding class with peers across North America and progress through outbound sales campaigns serving different construction verticals, customer spend levels, equipment categories, and customer segments. The role includes learning United Rentals’ sales tools and methodologies, taking part in customer and team initiatives, and tracking progress through achievement levels and sales performance metrics. You’ll receive feedback through leadership meetings, call coaching, and jobsite ride-alongs. The average Sales Associate spends 4–6 months in the Sales Development Program before promotion to an Outside Sales Representative, depending on market conditions and individual performance.
