About The Position
Moon Valley Nurseries is hiring a seasonal Sales Associate for its Christmas Lot Team. The role helps customers select and purchase Christmas trees while creating a festive, memorable holiday experience. The company provides training and describes a potential path to a full-time career. This position is seasonal, approximately November 23 to December 24. The lot's hours of operation are 10 AM to 8 PM; the role requires open availability for the day shift, including weekends. Overtime is available. Pay is $16.90 per hour plus tips. The job is based at the Carmel Valley retail location in San Diego, California, and has no travel requirement. Employees work outdoors for extended periods and may encounter cold, heat, rain, sun, and wind. The position is active and involves sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, stooping, using stairs, reaching, pulling, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Requirements
- Strong customer interaction skills and comfort closing sales.

Nice To Haves
- Two or more years of commission-based sales experience.
- Background in customer service, bartending or restaurants, resorts, or golf courses.
- Retail or seasonal sales experience.
- Familiarity with nurseries, landscaping, or garden products.
Responsibilities
- Deliver an excellent customer experience and warmly greet customers to understand their needs, including tree size, species, budget, and available space.
- Share product knowledge about tree varieties, freshness, sizes, and care.
- Represent the company in a courteous and professional manner.
- Guide customers through the sales process, recommend suitable trees, confidently close sales, and address questions or hesitations.
- Present and sell add-on products, including stands, tree care products, wreaths, garland, and other seasonal items.
- Contribute to daily team sales goals.
- Process payments and transactions accurately and promptly, following cash-handling and point-of-sale procedures.
- Provide a smooth checkout experience.
- Help set up displays and present trees attractively.
- Keep selling areas welcoming, clean, stocked, organized, and safe.
- Coordinate with teammates to keep customers moving through the lot.
- Take on additional responsibilities as assigned over time.
