About The Position

BronxWorks is hiring a Safety Monitor to help maintain a secure and orderly environment at a facility serving clients. The role includes access control, frequent patrols, enforcing facility and agency policies, responding to incidents and emergencies, and communicating concerns to supervisors and emergency services. The Safety Monitor is expected to act professionally and serve as a positive role model, particularly during crises or conflict. The position may require additional hours or overtime based on operational needs.

Requirements

New York State Security Guard Registration Card.
16-hour On-The-Job Security Guard Training Certificate.
New York Fire Department Certificate of Fitness as Fire Guard.
Ability to write clear and concise incident reports.
Engaging personality and detail-oriented skills.
Strong oral and written communication, time management, and organizational skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other standard business technology.
Must obtain within three months of hire and maintain throughout employment: FDNY F-03 Certificate of Fitness for Fire Guard for Indoor Place of Assembly, CPR/First Aid, Narcan administration, and CPI Training/Certification.
Ability to use a computer as needed.
Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time.
Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.
Ability to travel in New York City boroughs and adjacent counties via public transportation.
Ability, if required for home visits or field work, to travel at least one mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather.
TB test required within the first 120 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

First Aid/CPR Certificate.
High school diploma or GED (preferred but not required).

Responsibilities

Ensure the security of the premises and perform access control.
Conduct regular and frequent foot patrols of the entire facility.
Enforce facility, BronxWorks, and Department of Homeless Services policies.
Promptly advise appropriate supervisors of problems and concerns, including the Shift Supervisor.
Maintain order and promote safety.
Act professionally and as a role model for clients, especially during crises or conflict.
Respond appropriately and effectively to physical or verbal altercations between clients.
Respond appropriately to medical emergencies and situations involving child abuse or neglect.
Act as a liaison with police and other emergency services.
Serve as the designated Fire Safety Coordinator or Fire Guard as needed.
Make formal notifications as required.
Participate in training and staff meetings.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
