About The Position

The Safe Haven Lead Residential Staff member is responsible for daily Safe Haven operations, including coordinating volunteer scheduling and training, maintaining accurate and timely logs, preparing and delivering meals, intervening in crises, conducting Safe Haven activities, and ensuring the safety and integrity of the Safe Haven space. The role includes maintaining building safety, security, and cleanliness during designated hours, including remaining awake overnight. The position provides administrative support to the Residential Manager of the Safe Haven Housing Program, shares on-call responsibilities two weekends per month, helps maintain program goals and meet reporting requirements, and keeps program paperwork and participant files orderly. The Lead Residential Staff member acts as Residential Manager when the Residential Manager is absent.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Two to three years of social service and/or residential program experience.
Knowledge of issues surrounding homelessness, mental illness, and chemical dependency.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Good organizational skills.
Conflict management and crisis intervention skills.
Ability to demonstrate clear and professional boundaries and act in a professional manner.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree preferred.
Food Handling and Sanitation Certification preferred.
First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
Valid Illinois driver's license preferred.

Responsibilities

Know and comply with the policies and procedures of Deborah's Place and the Safe Haven program.
Coordinate the scheduling and training of Safe Haven volunteers.
Communicate concerns and observations directly and effectively to internal and external service providers.
Communicate directly and effectively with other Safe Haven staff.
Ensure the safety, security, cleanliness, and integrity of the building during designated hours, including staying awake overnight.
Prepare and serve meals.
Ensure the proper ordering, stocking, and storage of goods and supplies.
Collaborate with Safe Haven staff to plan and conduct Safe Haven operations and activities.
Provide timely and appropriate crisis intervention.
Provide administrative support to the Residential Manager of the Safe Haven Housing Program.
Share on-call responsibilities two weekends per month.
Work with the Residential Manager to maintain program goals and comply with reporting requirements.
Maintain program paperwork and participant files in a clean and orderly fashion.
Act as Residential Manager in the Residential Manager's absence.
