Residential Aide - Cornerstone (New Haven)
About The Position
The Residential Aide is responsible for direct client care in a transitional group home that provides rehabilitation services to adults with serious mental illness. This role supports clients in improving self-care skills and learning to function independently in the community. The position involves assisting program staff, establishing respectful relationships with residents, and maintaining a safe, harm-free environment. Working within Adult Services, the Residential Aide is part of the Residential Behavioral Health Treatment care team, supporting clients' recovery from mental illness, substance use, and homelessness. The third shift focuses on maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment, including environmental and routine monitoring tasks.
Requirements
- High School Diploma / GED
- 2+ years relevant experience as a Residential Aide or equivalent
- Valid Driver’s License
- Regular and predictable attendance is required
Responsibilities
- Provide direct client care, including activities of daily living.
- Offer support for resident safety, health, and wellness.
- Assist program staff.
- Establish, develop, and maintain respectful relationships with residents.
- Participate in maintaining a safe, harm-free environment for all residents.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized environment within the group home during the overnight shift.
- Document water temperatures as required.
- Check and record refrigerator and freezer temperatures.
- Ensure common areas remain clean, orderly, and sanitary.
- Complete routine environmental and safety checks throughout the home.
- Maintain a comfortable and well-maintained living environment for residents.
- Complete required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Report any maintenance, safety, or environmental concerns to the appropriate staff.
