About The Position

The Route Planner serves as the link between sales and distribution, translating daily customer orders into delivery routes. The role involves communicating with sales to understand customer needs and with distribution to understand operational capabilities, then using judgment to balance those needs. It requires relationship-building and problem-solving skills to create delivery routes and manage branch expectations. Daily outputs include efficient delivery routes, loading plans, and reports prepared before warehouse start times. The position is based in Frisco, Texas, and requires minimal travel.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 1 year of dispatching or routing experience in a logistics or supply chain management environment.
• At least 2 years of experience with Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• At least 1 year of experience with Descartes Transportation Suite or similar routing software.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations.

Responsibilities

• Build relationships with branch sales and operations leaders.
• Review the previous day's route plan and gather adjustments.
• Confirm the trucks and drivers available for daily routes.
• Route daily orders efficiently using established business rules and RoadNet or Descartes Route Planner.
• Use Fleetloader or Black Box/Magic Logic to build pallets and load trucks efficiently.
• Provide daily reports needed to manage delivery routes for branches.
• Apply knowledge of DOT regulations to route delivery teams safely.
