About The Position

The Route Planner serves as the link between sales and distribution, translating daily customer orders into delivery routes. The role requires regular communication with sales and distribution teams and sound judgment to balance their needs and capabilities. The planner builds relationships and creates efficient delivery routes, loading plans, and daily reports before warehouse start times. The position is based in Holland, Michigan, and is full-time, Monday through Friday, starting at 4:00 a.m. and continuing until finished. Flexibility to work weekends as needed is required.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least 1 year of dispatching or routing experience in a logistics or supply chain management environment.
At least 2 years of experience with Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
At least 1 year of experience with Descartes Transportation Suite or similar routing software.
Knowledge of DOT regulations to safely route delivery teams.
Minimal travel required.

Responsibilities

Build relationships with branch sales and operations leaders.
Review the previous day's route plan and gather adjustments.
Confirm trucks and drivers available for daily routes.
Route daily orders efficiently according to established business rules using RoadNet or Descartes Route Planner.
Use Fleetloader or Black Box/Magic Logic to build pallets and load trucks efficiently.
Provide daily reporting needed to manage delivery routes to branches.
Apply knowledge of DOT regulations to route delivery teams safely.
