About The Position

The Room Service Associate serves meals to patients in a professional and efficient manner, while accommodating dietary restrictions, prescribed diet limitations, food allergies and sensitivities, and cultural, ethnic, and religious preferences. The role includes coordinating with nursing staff to ensure diet prescriptions are accurate and patients’ food needs are met.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• One to three months of experience.
• Food Handler card or ServSafe certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Comply with dietary restrictions for special and modified diets while meeting food preferences within the limitations of diet orders.
• Demonstrate knowledge of therapeutic diets and the appropriate foods and condiments for each diet.
• Give all patients an opportunity to order meals, including calling patients in isolation to obtain their selections.
• Interact with nursing staff to ensure diet prescriptions are accurate and patients’ food needs are met.
• Offer menu alternatives as permitted by the prescribed diet, taking food allergies and sensitivities and cultural, ethnic, and religious preferences into account.
