About The Position

The Room Service Associate is responsible for serving meals to patients in a professional and efficient manner. The role supports patients’ food preferences while complying with prescribed dietary restrictions, therapeutic diets, food allergies and sensitivities, and cultural, ethnic, and religious preferences. The associate provides patients an opportunity to order meals, coordinates with nursing to ensure diet prescriptions are accurate, and offers menu alternatives when permitted by the prescribed diet.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED.
• One to three months of experience.
• Food Handler card or ServSafe certificate.

Responsibilities

• Comply with dietary restrictions for special and modified diets while meeting food preferences within the limitations of diet orders.
• Demonstrate knowledge of therapeutic diets and the appropriate foods and condiments for each diet.
• Give all patients an opportunity to order meals, including contacting patients in isolation to obtain their selections.
• Interact with nursing to help ensure diet prescriptions are accurate and patients’ food needs are met.
• Offer menu alternatives as allowed by the prescribed diet, taking food allergies and sensitivities, and cultural, ethnic, and religious preferences into account.
