About The Position

Aviagen is hiring associates for its Hatchery Service Team. The role involves checking and grading chicks to quality standards, preparing boxes and labels for chick transport, and transferring eggs between trolleys and hatchery areas. Associates ensure equipment is in good working order and consumable supplies are sufficient, while maintaining chick and egg welfare, hygiene, safety, and biosecurity standards. The position requires repetitive work, extended periods of standing, and handling trolleys in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

Ability to perform moderate physical work, including pushing and pulling trolleys up to 50 pounds.
Basic math skills.
Ability to perform repetitive work and stand for extended periods.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure.
Proven reliability in work attendance and willingness to give best effort.
Ability to work with a team.
Good communication skills.
Knowledge of basic Microsoft programs such as Excel and Word.
Self-motivation and ability to perform duties unsupervised.
Positive attitude, good decision-making skills, initiative, and commitment to continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

Check and grade chicks according to quality standards.
Build boxes for chick transport and complete labels to distinguish orders.
Manually transfer eggs to other trolleys and other parts of the hatchery.
Ensure equipment is in good working order and adequate consumable materials are available.
Maintain chick and egg welfare standards while handling them during treatments.
Follow cleaning and hygiene standards according to company protocols.
Follow safe working practices and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
Follow accident and near-miss reporting procedures.
Maintain high biosecurity standards.
