About The Position

Aviagen is hiring candidates for its Hatchery Service Team. The role involves checking and grading chicks to quality standards, preparing chick-transport boxes and labels, transferring eggs between trolleys and areas of the hatchery, and maintaining equipment and consumable supplies. The associate helps ensure chick and egg welfare, follows cleaning, hygiene, safety, and biosecurity protocols, and completes required accident and near-miss reporting. Candidates should be self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team, and able to maintain a positive, reliable, improvement-oriented approach in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

Ability to handle moderately physical work, including pushing and pulling trolleys weighing up to 50 lbs.
Basic math skills.
Ability to perform repetitive work and stand for extended periods.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure.
Reliable work attendance and willingness to give best effort.
Ability to work with a team.
Good communication skills.
Knowledge of basic Microsoft programs such as Excel and Word.
Self-motivated, able to perform duties unsupervised, and able to demonstrate a positive attitude, sound decision-making, initiative, and commitment to continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

Check and grade chicks to the required quality standard.
Build boxes for chick transport and complete labels to distinguish orders.
Transfer eggs to other trolleys and parts of the hatchery using manual handling.
Ensure equipment is in good working order and sufficient consumable supplies are available.
Maintain chick and egg welfare standards while handling chicks and eggs during treatments.
Follow company cleaning and hygiene protocols.
Follow safe working practices and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Follow accident and near-miss reporting procedures.
Maintain high standards of biosecurity.
