About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. This position involves performing a variety of duties related to food service for patients, including serving meals and snacks professionally, ensuring floor supplies are rotated and maintained to PAR levels, and delivering room service menus while instructing patients on the meal ordering system. The role also requires assessing patients' ability to use the meal order system and communicating effectively with nursing staff, nutrition techs, dietitians, and call center staff. Responsibilities include using computerized diet sheets, accessing patient computer systems, retrieving completed meals, and recording intake and calorie count information. The position also requires maintaining compliance with HACCP guidelines, processing meal orders over the telephone, verifying diet order parameters, and providing appropriate menus. Excellent customer service, listening skills, and the ability to establish effective working relationships are essential. The role also involves evaluating and maintaining quality control standards.

Requirements

  • Direct customer service experience preferred.
  • Previous food service experience and/or work with therapeutic diets preferred.
  • On-the-job training provided.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of duties involved with food service for patients.
  • Serves meals and snacks to patients in a professional manner.
  • Ensures rotation of floor supplies and maintains supplies up to PAR (Periodic Automatic Replenishment) levels.
  • Delivers appropriate room service menus to patients, instructing patients on meal ordering systems.
  • Assesses patients’ ability to utilize the meal order system.
  • Communicates effectively, timely and often with nursing staff, nutrition techs, dietitians and call center staff.
  • Uses computerized diet sheets, accesses patient computer system, and retrieves completed meals from patients' rooms and records intake and calorie count information.
  • Maintains compliance with all Hazardous Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines.
  • Obtains, transcribes and processes meal orders from patients and visitors over the telephone, verifying that meal orders meet diet order parameters.
  • Provides appropriate menu for diet.
  • Possesses excellent customer service skills continuously.
  • Displays listening skills and effectively communicates with co-workers, supervisors and nursing staff.
  • Establishes effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors and nursing staff.
  • Evaluates and maintains quality control standards.
