About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. This position involves creating a positive first and last impression for customers using Valet Service at any valet entrance. The role requires outstanding front-line customer service, professionalism, and tact, especially when interacting with customers during stressful and busy times. The Valet is responsible for assisting patients, families, and visitors by greeting them, parking their vehicles, providing directions, assisting with handicapped areas, and offering other reasonable services. They are also responsible for the general upkeep of valet entrances, retrieving vehicles for departing customers, and assisting healthcare staff with patient discharges, which may include opening vehicle doors and loading personal belongings. The Valet is expected to create a favorable image of the Sanford campus through a warm and caring attitude towards patients, visitors, family members, and their vehicles.

Requirements

  • Ability to work outside in all kinds of environmental elements and walk up to eight miles a day at a steady pace.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and provide excellent customer service.
  • Able to operate all types of motor vehicles using manual or automatic transmissions.
  • Good communication skills are required to deal effectively, tactfully, and courteously with all guests.
  • Has a positive attitude, the ability to learn quickly and adapt easily to change.
  • Possess good problem solving skills.
  • If unable to answer customer's question, use available resources to try to find the answer.
  • Current valid driver’s license.
  • Meet all medical guidelines for Sanford Health Category II drivers.
  • Driver history must comply with Sanford driver qualification standards for insurability.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous work experience in customer service environment beneficial.
  • Health care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Create a positive first and last impression to customers (patients, families, visitors, etc.) who use Valet Service at any valet entrance.
  • Display extraordinary professionalism and tact when interacting with customers at stressful and busy times.
  • Assist patients, families, and other customers by meeting and greeting them, parking their vehicle, providing directions, assisting anyone using handicapped areas and offering any other reasonable services.
  • Responsible for the general upkeep, inside and outside, of all valet entrances.
  • Retrieve the vehicle and return it to the customer when they are ready to leave.
  • Assist any healthcare staff when discharging patients, which may include opening vehicle doors and/or loading personal belongings into the vehicles.
  • Create a favorable image of the Sanford campus by demonstrating a warm and caring attitude towards patients, visitors and family members, and their vehicle.
  • Extend a hand and welcome people.
  • Deal effectively, tactfully, and courteously with all guests.
  • Be perceptive to the needs of patients, visitors and family members and seek appropriate resource when needed.
  • Consistently demonstrate good judgment during unusual circumstances and possess good critical thinking skills.
  • May be required to transport non-emergent patients and visitors within a one-mile radius of the originating medical care facility.
