The Food Service Assistant, also known as a Barista in this context, is responsible for a variety of duties within the medical center's food service department. This includes monitoring and recording proper food temperatures, setting up and maintaining clean and sanitized serving areas, preparing and serving food items, restocking, and cleaning and sanitizing equipment. The role also involves handling financial transactions by receiving payments for food and beverages using a computerized register. The position requires strict compliance with Hazardous Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines for food service, providing outstanding customer service, and effectively communicating with both patrons and co-workers. The individual must be able to establish effective working relationships and maintain quality control standards. Depending on the location, the role may also require obtaining Serv Safe certification and Basic Life Support (BLS) within a designated timeframe.
