About The Position

The Food Service Assistant (Barista) at Sanford Health is responsible for a variety of duties related to food service operations. This includes monitoring and recording proper food temperatures, setting up and maintaining a clean and sanitized serving area, and preparing and serving food items. The role also involves restocking food areas, cleaning and sanitizing equipment, and processing payments for food and beverages using a computerized register. Key aspects of the job include complying with Hazardous Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines, providing outstanding customer service, and effectively communicating with patrons and co-workers. The assistant is expected to establish effective working relationships and maintain quality control standards. Depending on the specific tasks, the role may involve operating various equipment such as grills, beverage machines, toasters, ice cream dispensers, cash registers, steam equipment, dishwashers, telephones, refrigerators, and freezers. Requirements

  • Minimum of 16 years of age
  • Ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions
  • Ability to perform basic math
  • Possesses ability to be on feet for the majority of the day and walk far distances
  • Possesses an understanding of food safety and sanitation processes
  • Serv Safe may be required to obtain within a designated time frame (depending upon location of hire)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) may be required depending upon location requirements

  • Experience working in the food industry
  • Previous customer service experience
  • Retail counting and reconciliation of money
  • Knowledge of food service
