This role prepares, assembles, bakes, cooks, seasons, and portions food for patients/residents, staff, and visitors of the designated facility, preparing and serving food within guidelines of menu and dietary requirements. The cook adheres to food quality standards of appearance, taste, temperature, and sanitation. They perform washing and cleaning duties to ensure sanitation and cleanliness in cooking and serving areas, and maintain labeling and storage of food, equipment, and machinery. The cook prepares and provides the highest quality and safest food possible to patients/residents, co-workers, team members, and guests. This position requires strong communication and teamwork skills, the ability to cook and thrive in a dynamic culinary environment, and adherence to standardized recipes and HACCP guidelines. The cook documents HACCP steps, temperatures, and outcomes, and operates various kitchen equipment. They must be able to work independently, understand food safety and sanitation processes, possess basic math skills for measuring, and be proficient in reading and understanding recipes. The role requires the ability to be on feet for the majority of the day and walk significant distances throughout the hospital.
