About The Position

Harrison County Hospital is seeking an RN for its Med/Surg/TCU/ICU Department. PRN day and night positions are available, with 12-hour shifts.

Under the direction of the department of nursing service, the staff nurse is primarily responsible and accountable for the nursing care patients receive. The role follows the nursing profession’s standards of practice, the nurse’s code of ethics, and the Indiana Nurse Practice Act. Nursing care includes assessing patient status, planning and implementing nursing actions, and evaluating the plan. The patient population ranges from infancy through geriatric age and includes patients with medical or post-surgical problems.

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent.
• Valid RN license in the state of Indiana.
• Graduation from an accredited nursing school.
• Customer skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Basic arrhythmia interpretation; must pass an arrhythmia examination within three months of hire or test out upon hire.
• Use of the Cerner Electronic Medical Record System.
• Teamwork skills.
• Venipuncture skills.

Nice To Haves

• BLS certification; on-the-job certification is available.
• ACLS certification; on-the-job certification is available.
• PALS certification; on-the-job certification is available.
• Basic arrhythmia interpretation training is available on the job.

Responsibilities

• Provide and be accountable for nursing care for assigned patients.
• Assess patient status, plan nursing actions, implement the plan, and evaluate its effectiveness.
• Care for patients from infancy through geriatric age who have medical or post-surgical problems.
• Practice in accordance with nursing standards of practice, the nurse’s code of ethics, and the Indiana Nurse Practice Act.
