About The Position

Harrison County Hospital is hiring a registered nurse for its Med/Surg/TCU/ICU Department. The staff nurse works under the direction of the department of nursing service and holds primary responsibility and accountability for the nursing care patients receive. The role follows the nursing profession’s standards of practice, code of ethics, and the Indiana Nurse Practice Act. Nursing practice includes assessing patient status, planning and implementing nursing actions, and evaluating the plan of care. The patient population ranges from infants to geriatric patients with medical or post-surgical problems. Positions are PRN, with day or night schedules and 12-hour shifts.

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent.
• Valid RN license in the state of Indiana.
• Graduation from an accredited nursing school.
• Basic customer-service skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Basic arrhythmia interpretation skills; must pass the arrhythmia examination within three months of hire or test out upon hire.

Nice To Haves

• BLS certification.
• ACLS certification.
• PALS certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide and be accountable for nursing care for assigned patients.
• Assess patient status, plan nursing actions, implement the plan, and evaluate outcomes.
• Care for patients from infancy through geriatrics with medical or post-surgical problems.
• Use the Cerner Electronic Medical Record System.
• Perform venipuncture.
