About The Position

Staff Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct patient care, assesses patient needs, develops and implements care plans, and supervises other healthcare staff. They administer medications, monitor patient health, educate patients and families, and collaborate with other healthcare professionals. RNs also document patient care, adhere to nursing regulations, and ensure patient safety. Samaritan is a comprehensive not-for-profit health system that has been caring for the community since 1881. Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current NYS RN license.
  • BLS required.
  • ACLS required or obtained within 3 months.
  • PALS required within 3 months of hire.
  • IV and IV contrast administration certification required.
  • Coronary care course or successful completion of a challenge exam within the orientation period.
  • 2 years recent (within 2 years) experience in critical care (ICU, PCU, Telemetry, or Emergency Department.
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of nursing principles, ability to provide quality patient care, and assess patients' needs.
  • Must be able to recognize safety issues for oneself and others.
  • Demonstrate the use of lifts to move patients safely.
  • Must be flexible and able to function well in stressful situations.
  • Ability to demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to prioritize and delegate.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills required.
