About The Position

The RN – Same Day Surgery works in Cleveland Clinic Main Campus’s Same Day Surgery Unit, which provides care for patients undergoing less complicated surgeries, many of whom go home the same day. The RN works alongside other caregivers to deliver exceptional patient care, interacting directly with patients, families, and visitors, and providing healthcare information as needed. The role calls for an empathetic, understanding, and nurturing caregiver focused on quality patient care and effective treatment.

The caregiver in this position works days from 5:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with weekend and holiday requirements.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (Diploma, ADN, or BSN).
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
• One year of current acute care RN experience or military RN experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patients’ conditions.
• Evaluate, update, and revise plans of care to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomes.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
• Educate patients and families using educational materials while considering cultural issues and other special concerns.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing protocol.
