About The Position

The Registered Nurse provides relationship-centered, compassionate, high-quality care to patients through competent clinical practice and the application of professional nursing science. The role contributes to preventing or resolving illness, disability, or injury; alleviating suffering; and advocating for patients in collaboration with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, family members, and support systems. The nurse uses independent judgment and the nursing process to assess, diagnose, identify outcomes, plan, implement, and evaluate direct patient care in accordance with ANA standards, institutional policies, and applicable laws and regulations. The position supports a culture of teamwork, professionalism, mutual respect, inclusion, and patient-focused care at Monument Health. The RN works in the Same Day Surgery Center at Monument Health Rapid City Hospital in Rapid City, South Dakota. The role requires assigned schedules and hours determined by the department and includes very heavy physical work and potential exposure to radiation, contaminated needles, and infectious body substances.

Requirements

Completion of a nursing education program approved by a board of nursing.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association within 60 days of hire or transfer.
Registered Nurse (RN) licensure through the South Dakota Board of Nursing, or the Wyoming Board of Nursing for Wyoming facilities.
Ability to work assigned schedules and hours as determined by the department.

Nice To Haves

Five or more years of Registered Nurse experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.

Responsibilities

Collect comprehensive data relevant to the healthcare consumer’s health and situation.
Analyze assessment data to determine diagnoses or issues.
Identify expected outcomes and develop individualized care plans with strategies and alternatives to achieve them.
Implement the care plan and ensure patient progression along the plan.
Coordinate care delivery.
Use health teaching and health promotion strategies to promote health and a safe environment.
Consult to influence care plans, enhance others’ abilities, and effect change, as applicable to the nursing role.
Evaluate progress toward expected outcomes.
Systematically improve the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice.
Maintain knowledge and competency reflecting current nursing practice, and evaluate personal practice against professional standards and applicable rules and regulations.
Contribute to the professional development of peers and colleagues.
Collaborate with patients, families, and others in nursing practice.
Integrate ethical provisions and research findings into practice.
Consider safety, effectiveness, cost, and impact when planning and delivering nursing services.
Provide leadership in the professional practice setting and the profession.
Practice in an environmentally safe and healthy manner.
Support Monument Health’s purpose, vision, and values, and practice within the legal scope of a Registered Professional Nurse.
Deliver competent care consistent with standards, policies, laws, and regulatory, accreditation, and certifying organization requirements.
Abide by the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses.
Use applicable technology and software to support and document nursing activities and patient care, and access work-related organizational applications.
Seek opportunities to improve patient care delivery through innovative and creative problem solving.
