RN / Ambulatory Virtual Nursing

Emory•Atlanta, GA

About The Position

Emory Healthcare is hiring an experienced Registered Nurse for its Telehealth Nursing team. The Virtual/Telehealth RN provides direct virtual nursing care using telephone, video, chat, and other interactive technologies. The nurse assesses and triages patients, prioritizes their needs, determines telehealth appropriateness, develops care plans with patients, and directs them to the appropriate level of care. The role also includes patient education, crisis intervention, appointment scheduling, prescription and medication issue support, referrals to Emory services and other resources, and acting as a liaison between patients and providers. The RN uses evidence-based nursing practices, clinical algorithms, protocols, guidelines, and the EMR to determine disposition and next steps. The position supports patients, providers, and clinical operations across practice settings, and requires effective time management, attention to detail, independent judgment in routine situations, and escalation of complex issues. The nurse maintains confidentiality, advocates for patients, identifies and reports safety and quality issues, and meets ongoing virtual nursing competency and quality, safety, and productivity requirements. The role may include orienting and training staff, students, and new team members, along with attending team and organizational meetings and supporting other service lines as needed. This is a PRN/as-needed role. Training is onsite in Atlanta for six or more weeks. The telehealth service operates 24/7, and weekend and holiday work is required. Schedules may change to support business needs, so flexibility is required. If assigned to work from home, the employee must follow Emory’s work-from-home agreement and have high-speed, reliable internet and a private, confidential workspace.
