About The Position

The Retrofit Technician completes repairs and corrections identified by engineering to move vehicles from a non-saleable condition to a safely saleable condition. The role may also involve additional diagnostics and repairs. Technicians perform basic to mild automotive repairs, remove and install parts, diagnose incoming vehicles, and use a computer to program vehicle modules. They should be able to identify unspecified vehicle problems and understand possible corrections and the procedures involved. The technician is expected to adhere to Suburban Automotive Service’s DRIVEN values and align business practices with the company’s mission and vision.

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license.
• Basic diagnostic skills.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Ability to be on your feet for extended periods.
• Own a cell phone for communicating with clients and team members.
• Mild to moderate understanding of using a computer to program vehicle modules.
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
• Customer-service orientation.
• Exceptional time-management and multitasking skills.
• Self-starter.
• Reliable team player.
• Basic hand tools and power tools, such as wrenches, screwdrivers, picks, pliers, hammers, impacts, ratchets, and grinders.
• Experience using battery chargers and maintainers.
• Experience using special equipment such as hoists, transmission jacks, and cherry pickers.
• Proper handling of fluids.

Responsibilities

• Complete repairs and corrections provided by engineering to make vehicles safely saleable.
• Perform basic to mild automotive repairs.
• Remove and place vehicle parts as needed.
• Diagnose vehicles as they come in.
• Program vehicle modules using a computer.
• Identify vehicle problems and understand possible corrections and procedures.
• Adhere to Suburban Automotive Service’s DRIVEN values and align business practices with its mission and vision.
