About The Position

The Retail Supervisor manages the daily operations of the front end and retail sales floor, maintaining company standards across store areas and ensuring team members provide quick, accurate, and friendly service. The role includes auditing, quality control, observing and evaluating performance, and training and coaching team members. The supervisor exemplifies America’s Thrift Core Values in donor experience, productivity, and customer service. A rotating schedule that may include mid-shifts, evenings, weekends, and holidays is required. The position may oversee and administer retail processes and the team in the absence of the Assistant Store Manager, and fulfill manager-on-duty responsibilities when store leadership is absent. Work takes place throughout store areas and may include both indoor and outdoor environments, exposure to varying noise levels, dust and odors, and changing weather and temperatures. The role requires the ability to perform the listed physical functions throughout a scheduled shift, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Requirements

At least two years of experience as a supervisor, team lead, or key holder in the retail industry.
Proficiency in basic mathematics and computer literacy.
Fundamental reading comprehension abilities.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to observe, assess, and coach others’ work.
Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
Strong reasoning, decision-making, and independent judgment skills.
Successful completion of a background check, motor vehicle check, and drug screen.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Ability to work a rotating schedule, including mid-shifts, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to stand and walk on hard surfaces for extended periods; lift and carry up to 50 pounds; and push or pull items weighing up to 25 pounds.
Ability to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and perform repetitive movements.
Ability to reach at, below, and above waist and shoulder level, including overhead, and safely climb approved equipment to heights of up to 14 feet while maintaining balance.
Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to operate registers, computers, handheld devices, tagging equipment, and other store equipment.
Adequate vision, hearing, and verbal communication abilities to interact effectively and identify potential safety concerns.
Ability to move throughout all store areas and perform physical activities while supervising and responding to operational needs.
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying environmental conditions, including noise, dust, odors, and changes in temperature and weather.

Responsibilities

Direct and supervise departmental team members.
Assist with recruiting, selecting, training, and onboarding team members.
Observe, interact with, coach, and recognize team members regularly.
Schedule team members according to the store’s labor needs.
Perform duties required of retail team members.
Manage inventory tracking systems for deliveries and stock levels; analyze product and supply levels and take corrective action to maintain sufficient inventory.
Supervise cash register operations and control cash and tender.
Perform morning accounting and banking procedures as assigned.
Respond to customer and donor questions, requests, and complaints.
Set an example and train and coach team members to deliver positive customer and donor experiences.
Maintain merchandise freshness, condition, pricing, and shop-ability, and create and maintain visually appealing displays.
Assist the General Manager with sales and marketing promotions and programs.
Maintain a respectful, values-driven workplace and use open communication to turn team member input into action.
Bring complaints to the Assistant Store Manager or General Manager for resolution in accordance with company values, policies, and procedures.
Protect company assets and information through safe handling, security, and integrity.
Promote loss prevention awareness and uphold relevant procedures and policies.
Maintain a safe work environment through education, follow-up, policy and procedure implementation, and support of OSHA guidelines.
In the absence of the Assistant Store Manager, oversee, implement, and administer retail processes and the team in accordance with policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
Fulfill manager-on-duty responsibilities and take reasonable action in the absence of store leadership.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
