About The Position

The Retail Store Team Leader is responsible for leadership at an assigned Ocean State Job Lot store, including hiring and developing associates, store profit and loss reporting, merchandising, and executing operations in accordance with company policies and procedures. The role leads store associates and the store leadership team in alignment with the company’s philosophy, promotes the store’s strategic vision, and drives store profitability. The position also oversees store presentation, customer service, staffing, freight flow, and backroom organization.

Requirements

• Proficiency with Google platform tools, including Sites, Slides, Drive, Docs, and Sheets.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build and maintain a culture of trust and respect.
• Ability to work collaboratively, embrace others’ ideas, and motivate team members around a common purpose and vision.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and proactively prioritize multiple tasks.
• Direct experience managing others and supporting their performance.

• Previous retail management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Promote the assigned store’s strategic vision and drive store profits through effective leadership.
• Hire, lead, and develop store associates while maintaining staffing needs and following the base-scheduling program.
• Develop reporting store leaders and build capacity for future leadership succession.
• Ensure store presentation meets company standards for merchandising, maintenance, and cleanliness.
• Ensure proper ordering and communicate with Buyers.
• Comply with operational, merchandising, and visual policies, procedures, and programs.
• Monitor customer service to ensure it meets company and customer expectations.
• Develop and promote a stable, knowledgeable store organization.
• Maintain working relationships with the designated Performance Support Manager, Human Resources Business Partner, District Asset Protection Manager, and District Team Leader.
• Manage freight flow, backroom organization, and 24-hour freight turnaround.
