About The Position

The Store Area Supervisor at Ocean State Job Lot oversees daily operations and merchandising for assigned areas, ensuring smooth freight flow and exceptional customer experiences under the guidance of a designated Team Leader. The position is a development path for future OSJL team leaders, and associates are encouraged to pursue opportunities for leadership growth. The role may include supervising store operations and opening or closing the store when designated.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of professional experience in other retail environments.
• Computer skills, including Google tools such as Email, Sites, Slides, Drive, Docs, and Sheets, as well as Qlik.
• Availability to work as needed by the business, including nights and weekends.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.

• Prior customer service experience.
• Training experience.
• Prior experience with merchandise ordering, receiving, stocking, and maintenance in other retail environments.

Responsibilities

• Champion exceptional customer service for diverse clientele and foster a welcoming, inclusive environment by exemplifying the T.R.E.A.T. model.
• Connect customers with corporate customer service and help ensure effective resolution of customer concerns.
• Promote company-wide customer initiatives, including donations, loyalty programs, and promotions.
• Create effective work schedules for the assigned area.
• Guide and support the team to complete tasks and foster a collaborative, motivating environment.
• Support training for store associates and encourage growth at all levels.
• Manage merchandise presentation and ensure timely adherence to company guidelines.
• Maintain accurate signage and ticketing, and manage ordering, backroom stock, and sales floor flow.
• Verify pricing accuracy for incoming shipments, report errors and discrepancies, and perform daily manifest checks.
• Identify, separate, and display priority items.
• Handle packaways, Return To Warehouse shipments, transfers, recalls, and returns in accordance with company policies.
• Uphold store safety and maintenance standards.
• When designated, supervise store operations, including opening and closing procedures.
• Operate a cash register as needed.
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
