About The Position

The Store Area Supervisor at Ocean State Job Lot oversees daily operations and merchandising for assigned areas, ensuring smooth freight flow and exceptional customer experiences under the guidance of a designated Team Leader. The role is a development path for future OSJL team leaders, and associates are encouraged to pursue leadership growth opportunities. The position may also involve supervising store operations, including opening and closing, when designated.

Requirements

At least 1 year of professional experience in other retail environments.
Computer skills, including familiarity with the Google platform (Email, Sites, Slides, Drive, Docs, and Sheets) and Qlik.
Availability to work as needed by the business, including nights and weekends.
Must be at least 18 years old.

Prior customer service experience.
Training experience.
Prior merchandise ordering, receiving, stocking, and maintenance experience in other retail environments.

Responsibilities

Champion exceptional customer service for diverse clientele and foster a welcoming, inclusive environment by exemplifying the T.R.E.A.T. model.
Connect customers with corporate customer service and ensure effective resolution of their concerns.
Promote Company-wide customer initiatives, including donations, loyalty programs, and promotions.
Create effective work schedules for the assigned area.
Guide and support the team in completing tasks and foster a collaborative, motivating environment.
Support training for store associates in the assigned area and encourage growth at all levels.
Manage merchandise presentation and ensure timely adherence to Company guidelines.
Maintain accurate signage and ticketing, and manage ordering, backroom stock, and sales floor flow.
Verify pricing accuracy of incoming shipments, report errors and discrepancies, and perform daily manifest checks.
Identify, separate, and effectively display priority items.
Handle packaways, Return To Warehouse shipments, transfers, recalls, and returns according to Company policies.
Uphold store safety and maintenance standards.
Supervise store operations, including opening and closing procedures, when designated.
Operate a cash register as needed.
Adhere to all Company policies and procedures.
