Retail Store Area Supervisor - Full Time - Key Carrier
About The Position
The Store Area Supervisor oversees daily operations and merchandising for assigned areas at Ocean State Job Lot. The role ensures smooth freight flow and exceptional customer experiences under the guidance of a designated Team Leader. It is also a development path for future OSJL team leaders, and associates are encouraged to pursue leadership growth opportunities. The position works primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal potential safety and health hazards. It involves extended periods of moving, remaining stationary, ascending, descending, and positioning oneself to complete tasks, as well as some sedentary activities and near-vision use for reading and computer work. Frequent physical activities include using hand tools, climbing or descending a ladder, moving, reaching, and lifting; the role requires regularly lifting up to 35 pounds. Requirements
- At least 1 year of professional experience in another retail environment.
- Computer skills, including use of Google Workspace tools such as Email, Sites, Slides, Drive, Docs, and Sheets, as well as Qlik.
- Availability to work as needed by the business, including nights and weekends.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Ability to regularly lift 35 pounds and perform the physical activities described for the role.

Responsibilities

- Promote company-wide customer initiatives, including donations, loyalty programs, and promotions.
- Create effective work schedules for the assigned area.
- Guide and support the team to ensure tasks are completed and foster a collaborative, motivating environment.
- Support training for store associates in the assigned area and encourage growth at all levels.
- Manage merchandise presentation and ensure timely compliance with company guidelines.
- Maintain accurate signage and ticketing, and manage ordering, backroom stock, and sales-floor flow.
- Verify pricing accuracy on incoming shipments, report errors and discrepancies, and perform daily manifest checks.
- Identify, separate, and display priority items effectively.
- Handle packaways, Return To Warehouse shipments, transfers, recalls, and returns in accordance with company policies.
- Uphold store safety and maintenance standards.
- Supervise store operations, including opening and closing procedures, when designated.
- Operate a cash register as needed.
- Follow all company policies and procedures.
