About The Position

The Overnight Retail Security Guard helps maintain a safe and welcoming environment for customers, employees, and vendors at Ballston Quarter in Arlington, Virginia. The position is full-time and pays $18.00 per hour, with a schedule of 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM, Saturday through Wednesday. The role requires attention to detail, professionalism, and a customer-first mindset.

The guard patrols assigned areas or monitors a fixed post, controls access and traffic, watches CCTV and security systems, and responds to alarms, emergencies, and incidents. The role also includes documenting activity and incidents, inspecting for safety risks, following site orders and procedures, supporting loss prevention, and assisting customers, employees, and visitors.

Duties may vary based on site needs. The position requires arriving on time in full uniform, remaining engaged and proactive throughout the shift, and following safety, training, and compliance requirements. Physical tasks include lifting up to 50 pounds.

Requirements

Responsibilities

• Patrol assigned areas or maintain a fixed post to monitor activity.
• Control access points and manage pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
• Identify and report suspicious activity, incidents, and safety concerns.
• Respond to alarms, emergencies, and on-site incidents.
• Monitor CCTV cameras and security systems.
• Complete daily activity logs, incident reports, and required documentation.
• Maintain awareness of surroundings at all times.
• Follow post orders, company policies, and safety procedures.
• Maintain knowledge of emergency response protocols.
• Inspect the property for safety risks, including fire hazards and equipment issues.
• Support loss prevention and recommend safety improvements.
• Greet and assist customers, employees, and visitors professionally.
• Provide directions and support as needed.
• Maintain a visible and approachable on-site presence.
• Arrive on time in full uniform and ready to work.
• Stay engaged and proactive throughout the shift.
• Follow safety, training, and compliance requirements.
