About The Position

We are hiring an Overnight Retail Security Guard to help maintain a safe and welcoming environment for customers, employees, and vendors. The role requires strong attention to detail, professionalism, and a customer-first mindset. Duties may vary based on site needs, and the role requires reliability, professionalism, and a commitment to maintaining a safe environment.

The position is located at Ballston Quarter in Arlington, Virginia. The full-time schedule is 10:00 PM–6:00 AM, Saturday through Wednesday, at $18.00 per hour.

Requirements

• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to stay alert and respond calmly in emergency situations.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to follow directions.
• Ability to write clear and accurate reports.
• Professional appearance and demeanor.
• State Guard license required.
• High school diploma or GED.
• 3–6 months of security or life-safety experience.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks.
• High level of attentiveness and situational awareness.
• Dependable and team-oriented.
• Able to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong work ethic with a sense of urgency.

Nice To Haves

• Prior security or customer-facing experience.
• Familiarity with CCTV, alarms, or access control systems.

Responsibilities

• Patrol assigned areas or maintain a fixed post to monitor activity.
• Control access points and manage pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
• Identify and report suspicious activity, incidents, or safety concerns.
• Respond to alarms, emergencies, and on-site incidents.
• Monitor CCTV cameras and security systems.
• Complete daily activity logs, incident reports, and required documentation.
• Maintain awareness of surroundings at all times.
• Follow post orders, company policies, and safety procedures.
• Maintain knowledge of emergency response protocols.
• Inspect property for safety risks, including fire hazards and equipment issues.
• Support loss prevention and recommend safety improvements.
• Greet and assist customers, employees, and visitors professionally.
• Provide directions and support as needed.
• Maintain a visible, approachable presence on-site.
• Arrive on time in full uniform and ready to work.
• Stay engaged and proactive throughout the shift.
• Follow safety, training, and compliance requirements.
