About The Position

The Retail Security Guard helps maintain a safe and welcoming environment for customers, employees, and vendors at Columbiana Centre in Columbia, South Carolina. The role calls for attention to detail, professionalism, and a customer-first mindset. Duties may vary based on site needs.

The guard patrols assigned areas or maintains a fixed post; monitors CCTV and security systems; controls access points and pedestrian and vehicle traffic; responds to alarms, emergencies, and on-site incidents; identifies and reports suspicious activity and safety concerns; completes activity logs and incident reports; follows post orders, company policies, and safety procedures; inspects the property for safety risks; and supports loss prevention. The guard also greets and assists customers, employees, and visitors, provides directions, and maintains a visible, approachable presence.

The position is full-time, with a schedule of 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, and pays $15.00 per hour. Employees are expected to arrive on time in full uniform, remain engaged and proactive during the shift, and follow safety, training, and compliance requirements.

Requirements

• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to stay alert and respond calmly in emergency situations.

• Ability to write clear and accurate reports.
• Professional appearance and demeanor.
• State Guard license required.
• High school diploma or GED.
• 3–6 months of security or life-safety experience.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks.
• High attentiveness and situational awareness.
• Dependable and team-oriented.
• Able to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong work ethic and sense of urgency.

Nice To Haves

• Prior security or customer-facing experience.
• Familiarity with CCTV, alarms, or access control systems.

Responsibilities

• Patrol assigned areas or maintain a fixed post to monitor activity.

• Maintain a visible, approachable presence on-site.
• Arrive on time in full uniform, stay engaged and proactive throughout the shift, and follow safety, training, and compliance requirements.
