About The Position

The Retail Scan Associate performs weekly in-store data collection at assigned local retailers for 52 weeks a year, including holiday weeks. Store types may include grocery, convenience, drug, pet, and mass merchandise stores, including national chains and independent retailers. Using a downloadable app on a mobile phone, the associate scans barcodes in numerous locations throughout each store and provides quantity information for about 45% of the products scanned.

The associate reports to assigned stores by specified deadlines and completes Display Scanning throughout the entire store each week, which can take several hours. Custom Projects, requested frequently by clients for more specific product details in main stocking locations, may add one to two hours of work per store in a given week. The position averages 7–10 base hours per week across stores, depending on store size and workload, with additional hours often assigned for special projects. Higher demand occurs from January through June. The role involves independent work, some scheduling flexibility, and continuous physical activity.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver’s license.
• Have a reliable vehicle and at least the minimum state-required auto insurance coverage.
• Be able to stand for long periods and access products throughout the store.
• Be able to lift up to 25 pounds, reach 6 feet in the air, and bend, stretch, stoop, and stand.
• Be able to perform repetitive movements with hands, wrists, arms, and legs for prolonged periods.
• Have attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
• Be a deadline-driven self-starter.
• Have access to reliable Wi-Fi.
• Be tech savvy.
