About The Position

Portland Leather Goods is hiring a part-time Retail Sales Associate at its Chicago, Illinois location. The role focuses on delivering a customer experience tailored to each shopper’s needs while assisting customers and keeping the store clean, stocked, and organized. The position is suited to an outgoing, social person who enjoys helping people and working with leather goods. Some weekend availability is expected, and weekend work is required. The associate greets and assists customers, builds positive customer relationships, maintains knowledge of store products, follows payment procedures, and helps provide a safe shopping and working environment. Physical duties include moving and arranging merchandise, climbing ladders, and spending extended periods standing and moving around the store. The employee must reside in the same state as the assigned store location. Reasonable accommodations will be made for qualified individuals with disabilities, absent undue hardship.

Requirements

High school diploma or higher.
Must be available to work weekends.
Customer service or retail experience required.
Must be a team player.
Friendly, outgoing personality.
Ability to use POS systems and learn new systems.
Ability to move merchandise with appropriate equipment between the backroom and sales floor.
Ability to place and arrange items on shelves and racks.
Ability to climb and descend ladders while carrying merchandise.
Ability to lift 30 pounds or more with assistance.
Ability to be on feet for at least 8 hours per shift and continuously move around all areas of the store.
Ability to stand, walk, kneel, or balance for a duration of time.
Ability to read and understand instructions, reports, and information on computer/register screens, and input information into a computer.
Must reside in the same state as the assigned retail store location.
