About The Position

Retail Sales Associates help New Balance retail stores operate smoothly and provide exemplary customer service. They use expert product knowledge and proper selling techniques to assist customers throughout the transaction process while positively representing the New Balance brand. Applicants must be at least 18 years old. The role is seasonal and based in Elizabeth, New Jersey.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Strong customer service and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Familiarity with cash register functions.
• Ability to perform basic math quickly.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule that may include weekends and holidays.
• Ability to lift 4 lbs. frequently and a maximum of 8 lbs. occasionally.
• Ability to kneel or squat frequently, move product boxes weighing up to 50 lbs. with assistance if necessary, stand for extended periods, climb ladders occasionally, and climb and descend stairs frequently depending on location.

• Past retail experience is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service using product knowledge, proper selling techniques, and the GUEST service model: greet customers, understand their needs, educate them about product features and benefits, solve problems or answer questions, and complete transactions using suggestive selling, multiple selling, and effective closing.
• Correctly measure and fit customers with appropriate New Balance products.
• Inform customers about current promotions.
• Keep the sales floor neat, organized, well stocked, and looking its best.
• Ensure products are properly labeled and price marked.
• Protect products by greeting customers, attaching and detaching security tags, monitoring merchandise, and reporting shrinkage or security violations.
• Follow safety regulations, including proper lifting procedures, and promptly report accidents and near misses.
