About The Position

The Salvation Army Thrift Store is seeking a friendly, motivated, and dependable Retail Sales Associate to provide customer service, maintain an organized store, and support store operations. The role helps turn donations into funding for programs that support the community and contributes to a welcoming shopping experience for customers and donors.

This is a part-time position for 18 hours per week. Work includes evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled. Paid training is provided on register use and store procedures, with ongoing coaching and support from store leadership. The role offers an opportunity to build retail and customer service skills.

Requirements

• Ability to provide friendly customer service.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Basic communication and teamwork skills.
• Basic math and computer skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Ability to stand and walk for most of the shift.
• Ability to bend, reach, and lift or move merchandise throughout the day.
• High school diploma or currently pursuing a high school diploma.

Nice To Haves

• Previous retail, cashier, customer service, or thrift store experience.
• Experience using a point-of-sale system.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and donors and provide friendly, helpful service.
• Operate the register and process sales transactions accurately.
• Assist donors with donations according to center policy.
• Sort, process, hang, tag, price, and prepare donated merchandise.
• Move priced merchandise to the sales floor, display areas, or other designated locations.
• Keep the store clean, safe, and organized.
• Work with team members to support daily sales and production goals.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
