About The Position

The Retail Associate at The Salvation Army Thrift Store provides customer service and helps maintain store operations. The role supports the organization’s community programs by helping turn donations into funding, while creating a welcoming shopping experience for customers and donors. The associate greets customers and donors, processes sales, assists with donations, prepares donated merchandise for sale, and keeps the store clean, safe, and organized. The position is part-time for 25 hours per week, with evenings, weekends, and holidays scheduled as needed. Paid training on register and store procedures is provided, along with ongoing coaching and support from store leadership.

Requirements

Ability to provide friendly customer service.
Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Basic communication and teamwork skills.
Basic math and computer skills.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Ability to stand and walk for most of the shift.
Ability to bend, reach, and lift or move merchandise throughout the day.
High school diploma or currently pursuing a high school diploma.

Nice To Haves

Previous retail, cashier, customer service, or thrift store experience.
Experience using a point of sale system.

Responsibilities

Greet customers and donors and provide friendly, helpful service.
Operate the register and accurately process sales transactions.
Assist donors with donations according to center policy.
Sort, process, hang, tag, price, and prepare donated merchandise.
Move priced merchandise to the sales floor, display areas, or other designated locations.
Keep the store clean, safe, and organized.
Work with team members to support daily sales and production goals.
Perform other duties as assigned.
