About The Position

Hardware Sales is seeking a knowledgeable Retail Sales Associate for its Electrical Department in Bellingham, Washington. The associate assists customers with electrical needs, advises them on products and tools, and helps create a positive shopping experience for DIY and professional customers working on projects ranging from basic home repairs to complex installations. The role also supports sales, merchandising, inventory, and daily store operations, and requires comfort using computers and multiple programs for sales, ordering, inventory management, and independent product research. This is a regular full-time, non-exempt, hourly position. The listed hourly pay range is $20.00–$24.00. The position requires spending the day on one's feet and regularly lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, climbing ladders, and using stairs.

Requirements

Strong knowledge of electrical products, tools, and equipment.
Excellent customer service skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Basic computer skills for processing sales transactions.
Ability to be on one's feet throughout the day.
Ability to lift 50 pounds from the ground and place heavy objects on shelves above one's head.
Ability to push, pull, squat, bend, climb ladders, and use stairs daily.

Prior retail experience, particularly in electrical or hardware sales.

Responsibilities

Greet customers, identify their electrical needs, and provide knowledgeable product advice and recommendations.
Demonstrate product features and address customer questions or issues in a friendly, professional manner.
Understand customers’ project needs and guide them to appropriate products.
Upsell and cross-sell related products.
Process point-of-sale transactions accurately and efficiently.
Maintain thorough knowledge of department products and stay informed about industry trends, product offerings, and technical advancements.
Participate in training to improve product knowledge and sales techniques.
Keep product displays organized, stocked, and visually appealing.
Replenish stock, help maintain accurate inventory levels, and participate in inventory counts.
Set up promotional displays and signage as directed by management.
Assist with store opening and closing procedures as needed.
Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the Electrical Department.
Collaborate with associates and department managers to meet sales and customer satisfaction goals.
Support other departments as needed.
Use computer programs for inventory management, sales, and ordering, and conduct independent product research.
