About The Position

The primary role of this position is to handle counter sales and provide service and information to customers who visit the company’s retail showroom. The position is also responsible for maintaining stock levels on the sales floor and ensuring an orderly, attractive, clean, and safe retail environment.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of work experience; some sales experience is preferred.
• Working knowledge of lumber and building materials.
• Computer literacy.
• Strong communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with employees and customers.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment.
• Common sense and good judgment.
• High school diploma or equivalency.

Nice To Haves

• Some sales experience.

Responsibilities

• Sell lumber and related materials to customers on the store’s sales floor.
• Provide support and assistance to DIY customers.
• Handle customer inquiries by telephone and email as appropriate.
• Coordinate customer deliveries as appropriate.
• Create accurate sales tickets and enter all information into the computer system.
• Operate the cash register and balance the drawer daily.
• Maintain shelf and floor stock levels and work with purchasing to ensure adequate stockroom inventory.
• Maintain an attractive, orderly, clean, and safe sales floor.
• Take initiative to identify and complete tasks without being asked.
